I have the same exact setup. Tint the windows
I'm fixin' to, problem is that my guy is busy and I use my car for work. Literally drive all day so I can't exactly leave there during business hours.
It's in the works, though!
It’s all a preference thing, didn’t mean to sound so demanding haha. I just felt a little exposed driving around without tint on.
I personally love the black framed windows, makes it look much sharper than the chrome trimmed ones on the more expensive trims.
One of the highest compliments I’ve received was from a guy dropping some mulch off in my driveway: “I made a pile next to the Audi” 😂
I added an OEM spoiler, and I wish mine had the LED headlights but it doesn’t.
I've got a spoiler on the back of it, too. It's not the OEM one but it's really close, like.. I can't tell the difference. I also went with a black one, to match the black in the bumper, I love the look of it.
I really want the tint, too.. Just not sure if I want to do the windshield or not.. I mean, illegal but also, Florida.. I want to have it done before Xmas, for sure.
In another comment, someone's telling me to put the LED headlamps on it, do you know if they are plug'n'play? I've seen someone having to add entire circuits just to get it to work.
Also, if you don't mind me asking, what tires are you running? And are they loud?
- my spoiler is color matched, but I like a black spoiler too, it’s what they do on the S4, and other Audi cousins.
- yeah my tint, even though it’s only 35% is illegal too (RI), gotta remove it every two years for vehicle inspection stickers
- I didn’t do enough research into an LED swap. I think you do have to add additional power packs or something to run them.
- I still have the original Continental Conti ProContacts on mine. Mine is a 2018 with 37k on it. Tires I can tell from the manufacture date code are from May ‘17, so I’ll probably replace soon. I like the OEM tires, I don’t notice much road noise.
I bought mine with 35k miles on it.. Pulling up to 80k now. ProContacts, huh? .. Okay, I'll look into them, the dealer was trying to sell me some Giti or what not. People don't hate them but I dunno, I don't know them so.. yeah..
35% is illegal? Down here in FL you can do 35% legally but really, unless you do like 5%, nobody bats an eye.. My guy told me, on my other passat, that if I get a ticket, that he'll personally pay for it. He's never heard of anyone getting a ticket for tint.
I’d avoid Giti tires. My buddy has a Tiguan and his Gitis are toasted after 30k. Based on tread my Contis could do a full 48k probably, but I’ll switch them earlier since I’ve always heard 5-6 years is when rubber starts to harden and you’ll suffer with bad traction in the cold.
Technically here any tint film is illegal. We have a 70% TRANSMITTANCE law (confuses some folks transmittance vs. blocking). The issue is most factory glass is about 70% transmittance (it’s not crystal clear) so shops that do state inspections have been instructed to fail cars with film. They also make the shops send a picture of a side widow with inspection reports to make sure people can’t bribe their way around the rules. So, even though I’ve never worried about a tint ticket, I’ll have to remove the tint, get it inspected, and then take it back to the shop to get tint again.
It’s kinda dumb, but I love it here so I’ll put up with the silly laws.
That's insane. I kinda like it though. Here in Florida, everyone drives around with 5-20% tint, high beams on 100% of the time, never using a blinker and such.. And the cops just wave them on.. Kinda refreshing to know that not the whole US is like that.
I'm probably gonna go with continentals, too.. that's what I put on my wife's civic and she's never complained about them once.
Oh don’t get me wrong, still a bunch of people with stupid dark tint, but it definitely doesn’t approach Florida, California, Texas levels.
Get the OEM LED headlights, has good integration with the DLRs and turn signals.
Are they gonna work?! I was looking into it - as I got the car I was thinking "I can get the LEDs later" but the dealer told me they wouldn't "fit".. Tried googling around and saw that people who actually got it to work had to do like a lot of electrical work.
I don't really know as mine were already on there.
It does seem like you will have to do electrical work, but I'm sure if you found a local shop that works with VWs they probably could do it. Or the dealer, but they might be very expensive for a relatively cheap job.
Yeah that's the one I was reading. Back then I was under warranty and didn't really want to pull the trigger. I'll see, maybe I'll do this time.
